Global Studies Mission The Global Studies Program at the University of Alabama in Huntsville seeks to serve students and faculty in all departments and colleges on campus interested in exploring global issues from historical, political, social, cultural, and economic perspectives. The program fosters an interdisciplinary environment of investigation and collaboration through the Global Studies Forum, the Global Studies Cognate, and the development and facilitation of a wide variety of study-abroad opportunities. The Global Studies Forum connects the University and local community by sponsoring dialogues on global affairs. The Global Studies Cognate’s focus on developing foreign language proficiency and studying global issues from multiple perspectives provides students the intellectual foundations and the analytical skills to prepare for a variety of careers and global citizenship. Faculty-led and extended study-abroad opportunities encourage students to further their awareness and understanding of cultural differences and similarities and enhance their ability to engage more fully in the global exchange of ideas.
